Timber

Specify HW for a durable hardwood (West African Idigbo) or any other hardwood of your choice.

Specify SW for treated softwood (Scandinavian U/S) Timber is treated against fungal attack in accordance with B.W.P.D.A., and N.H.B.C. requirements for the preservative treatment of timber.

Sections

Box frames made in the traditional manner and conform to the B.W.F. Industry Standard with reference to B.S.644.

Ply linings and slips are fitted as standard. Sashes are machined generally to ovalo section, and are rebated to take single glazing puttied in.

Provision can be made for beads if required. Double glazed units must be beaded in.

All round weather stripping by Schlegel set into its own groove.

Projecting cills are an option as are horns.

Glazing

Specify SG for single glazing, DG20 for double glazed units.

Workshop fitted glazing is bedded and beaded in so as to be almost irremovable, making the window secure against forced entry.

Ironmongery

Round ended brass faced and wheeled pulleys are fitted together brass sash fasteners. Sash lifts or handles can be supplied as an option, as are trickle vents.

We manufacture sash weights in steel or lead and can be supplied to new windows fully corded up and weighted only if pre-glazing option is specified. This option would not apply if the window went outside weight and transport limitations.

Finish

Softwood windows are normally supplied in base coat which gives a maximum of 3 months protection prior to staining or painting. A minimum of a 3 coat system is required for warranty purposes.

Hardwood windows can have the option of being pre-finished with one coat stain or one of stain and two of lacquer, a final coat being applied after installation.
